What is a Link Rotator?

A Link Rotator (also known as a URL Rotator) is a powerful feature that allows you to redirect users to multiple destinations using a single short link.

Every time someone clicks your rotator link, they’re automatically sent to one of the predefined URLs—based on weighted random distribution.

This is extremely useful when you’re trying to test, compare, or distribute traffic efficiently.

🔧 Why Use a Link Rotator?

You can use Link Rotators in CutMe Short to:

  • A/B test multiple landing pages

  • Try different affiliate or promotional links

  • Distribute traffic across offers

  • Split test product pages, pricing, or campaigns

  • Serve localised content (by combining with targeting features)

🚀 How to Create a Link Rotator in CutMe Short

Setting up a rotator takes just a few clicks:

  1. Create a New Link or Edit Existing

Go to your dashboard and click Create Link.

  2. Add the First Destination

    Enter your primary destination URL.

  3. Expand Rotation Section

In the bottom section, open Link Rotation.

  4. Add More Destinations

    • Add additional URLs

    • Assign a percentage to each destination

    • You can include up to 5 different URLs

    • Total percentage doesn’t have to be exactly 100%—residual traffic goes to the main destination.

  5. Save Your Link

    And you’re done!

You can now test your rotator by clicking the link multiple times. You’ll notice different destination pages loading.

📊 How Does Link Rotator Work?

CutMe Short’s Link Rotator uses a probabilistic algorithm:

  • Each click is like drawing a card from a deck

  • Based on your assigned percentages, the platform randomly chooses a destination

  • This means:

    • A user might land on the same destination multiple times

    • Over a large number of clicks (100+), the distribution will match your settings closely

🧠 FAQs

Q: Can a user land on different URLs with each click?

Yes, since the rotator works on random chance, each click may lead to a different destination.

Q: How many URLs can I add?

Up to 5 destinations.

Q: What if my percentages don’t total 100%?

No problem. Remaining traffic will be sent to the main URL at the top of your list.

Q: Is there a minimum percentage I can assign?

Yes, you can go as low as 1% per destination.

🛠 Sticky vs Non-Sticky Rotation

CutMe Short’s rotator is non-sticky

Which means:

  • A user might land on different destinations across multiple clicks

  • The system doesn’t “remember” the user’s previous path

This helps you distribute traffic more evenly and test broadly.
