Tracking link clicks is essential for measuring campaign performance and user behavior. With CutMe Short, you can easily connect your shortened links to your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property by adding your GA4 Measurement ID. This allows you to record every link click as a pageview event in GA4, enabling more detailed analysis in your analytics dashboard.
How GA4 Click Tracking Works
When someone clicks a CutMe Short link that includes a GA4 Measurement ID, a pageview event is automatically fired and sent to your GA4 property. These events appear under the Realtime > Events section in GA4, where you can monitor link clicks in real time.
Steps to Set Up GA4 Tracking in CutMe Short
1. Create a New Link
Go to the CutMe Short dashboard
Click on “Create New Link”
Enter your destination URL
You can also add: Title, Tags, Folder, UTM parameters (optional)
2. Add Your GA4 Measurement ID

Paste your GA4 Measurement ID in the provided field

How to Find Your GA4 Measurement ID:

You can optionally set a label to help identify links in GA4. If left blank, “CutMeShort” will be used by default.

Once the link is saved, every click will trigger a GA4 pageview event. These will be visible in your Google Analytics dashboard.
Where to View Link Clicks in GA4

Here, you will see events generated by link clicks, along with the identifiers and Measurement ID you’ve set for each link.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need Google Tag Manager (GTM)?
No. CutMe Short handles GA4 tracking server-side—no setup or tag installation required.
Will using GA4 slow down my link redirection?
Slightly—but it’s minimal. CutMe Short waits just enough to trigger the pageview event, then proceeds with the redirection. If you ever want instant redirects, simply skip the GA4 field.
Can I use branded domains with GA4 links?
Absolutely. Your GA4 tracking will work with both default and branded domains. Just make sure each link has the correct Measurement ID applied.
